WFDSS Next Gen Released March 2025

Modernizing Risk-Informed Decision Making in Wildland Fire Management

The Wildland Fire Management Research, Development and Application (WFM RD&A) program has released WFDSS Next Gen for the Interagency Wildland Fire community to support risk-Informed decision making – March 2025.   Updates to WFDSS Next Gen incorporated user feedback dating back to 2007, technological changes were enhanced to improve user experiences, smooth Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and future Development, Modernizations and Enhancements (DME) going forward.   These advancements will allow seamless incorporation of new research and technologies from partners, research entities and agency groups such as RMA and ISAP.

WFDSS Next Gen is a Convener of Information:

Several new data layers have been incorporated to support Risk Based Decision Making.

  • RMA data layers included in WFDSS Next Gen:
    • PCL, SDI, Snag Hazard
  • Additional Data Layers:
    • Safe Separation Distance, National Incident Feature Services, Lessons Learned Histomap, BI and ERC forecast data and much more.
